Summer Enrichment at Trident Academy is designed for rising first through rising sixth grade students who are struggling in reading and/or math skills. Taught by Trident Academy teachers and based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, students will be involved in small-group, multi-sensory learning that is interactive and fun!

Classes include: Reading Foundations, Reading Comprehension/Applied Writing, and Multi-Sensory Math

You may register for one, two, or three classes. Students registering for two or three classes will be scheduled in consecutive sessions.  Your session times will be determined after all student assessments have been completed.

1st session 8:30 – 9:30

2nd session 9:45 – 10:45

3rd session 11:00 – 12:00

In order to group students appropriately, each child must be assessed in reading and/or math skills prior to the June 7 start date. The cost of testing is included in the tuition and should last approximately one hour. We will contact you to schedule your child’s assessment.

Tuition

For the first class $950

For a second class an additional $850

For a third class an additional $750

In order to hold your child’s place in the program, a nonrefundable deposit of $125 is required with your online registration. This deposit will be applied to the total tuition and the balance will be due by the first session.  Students are expected to attend all scheduled days of the four week program. There are no discounts for siblings or reimbursement for days missed.  The deadline for registration is May 15th, 2023.

Class Descriptions

Reading Foundations (Rising 1st – 3rd grades)

This class is structured to strengthen phonemic awareness and decoding skills at the student’s level. With visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning, students will understand letter and sound associations and learn strategies for blending sounds into words. Decoding strategies and spelling generalizations will be introduced as well.

Reading Comprehension (Rising 4th – 6th grades)

With instruction appropriately designed per level and using visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning, students will have opportunities to build reading fluency and apply concrete strategies for comprehending what they read.

Applied Writing

In applied writing using visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning, the focus will be centered on specific instructional needs of the students, such as learning letter formation on lined paper, developing sentence structure, or paragraph development.

Multi-Sensory Math

This unique program offers a hands-on approach to learning math. Students build skills through sequential, incremental instruction with consistent review. Through visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning, students will gain knowledge of math concepts appropriate to their specific skill level.
