Certified Level Coursework
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Governor McMaster’s executive orders declaring a state of emergency, and our own desire to keep everyone as safe as possible, Trident Academy is unable to offer the Certified Level Course this summer. 35 hours of instruction
This class follows the curriculum guidelines of the Academy and includes:
- Older or complex students adapting the scope and sequence
- Phonemic awareness
- Neurological and biological Underpinnings of dyslexia
- Working Memory
- Executive Function
- The profile and annotated LP at the Certified Level
- History of English and Literacy in America
- Written expression
The course does not include practicum.
Cost: $700 – Course tuition does not include textbooks or the teacher provided materials (a course notebook and cards). A $350 non-refundable deposit is due with registration. A $100 materials fee will be due on the first day of class.

Anne Vickers is an accredited Training Fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE). Anne served as Head of Sandhills School in Columbia, South Carolina for seventeen years from 2001-2018. Since her retirement in 2018, Anne has been working as a consultant with administrators, parents, teachers and students in schools that offer programs for students with dyslexia and other learning differences.
Ms. Vickers began her career in education over forty years ago. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 1977, and then received a Master of Education in Special Education from the College of Charleston in 1982. Since then, Ms. Vickers has dedicated her entire career to teaching students who learn differently. Ms. Vickers became a Fellow of the AOGPE in 1995. She had the great fortune of working closely with two of the pioneers in AGOPE, Dr. Lucia R. Karnes and Diana H. King. She has conducted numerous Orton-Gillingham training seminars for teachers, parents and administrators.
Ms. Vickers has served on many boards catering to the needs of dyslexic people. She has been a speaker at local, regional and national conferences.
